Beetle Riesling Trocken wins the best Riesling in the world at the 2020 Paris Wine Cup.
With the Edition Bee, Timo Dienhart and Andreas Thran want to make their mark in the field of top Rieslings from the Mosel. Pure pleasure from outstanding steep-slope Riesling, organic cultivation and, to top it all, active protection of creation – making their vineyards a refuge for bees. The idea was born in the unique location of “Honigberg”, the Honey Mountain, when, while walking through the especially greened vineyards, they noticed the buzzing of the bees underneath the heavily laden vines. This Riesling Trocken is a classic, fresh Riesling with elegant fragrance and a great balance between sweetness and acidity.
Lightly golden with green hues. Aroma bouquet of green apples and citrus. Intense flavours of lime, kiwi and passion fruit with light notes of red apple. Well-rounded, with good balance between elegant acidity, minimal sweetness and inciting minerality. Excellent pairing with sashimi and sushi, oysters with Asian twist, seafood salads, dim sum, Vietnamese and Mexican seafood
Varietal: 100% Riesling
Region: Mosel, Germany
Winemakers: Timo Dienhart and Andreas Thran
Timo Dienhart: DLG Young Winemaker 2009 and member of the EcoVin Association, has been cultivating the vineyards in the tradition of his father Hans since 1995 under the guidelines of organic viticulture.
Andreas Thran: Big fan of the (spontaneously fermented) Mosel Riesling. Found someone in Timo Dienhart who wanted to break new ground without compromising on quality and taste. Lives, works and drinks in Trier.
edition bee - the idea of first-class Riesling with the built-in good purpose. Winemaker meets wine freak - just like that - and we understood each other directly. We, that is Timo Dienhart and Andreas Thran, want to set an example with the edition bee in the area of the top Rieslings from the Moselle.
Pure enjoyment from outstanding steep Riesling, ecological-organic cultivation and a contribution to the active protection of creation - we want to make our vineyards a refuge for bees. The idea was born in the unique location of "Honigberg" when we noticed the lively buzz of the bees under the lush rows of vines while walking through the specially planted vineyards.
“Did you hear how vulnerable the bee is? One of the most important pollinators in the cycle of nature - one already speaks of large bee deaths. ” A thought that soon became our namesake - edition bee. In addition to the vines, the bee has a special focus in the greening of our vineyards. With special admixtures to the “power seeds” for the perfect Riesling, we create flowering habitats between our rows of vines. With every sip of the edition bee you support our work to preserve and expand the important habitat of the bee on the honey mountain.
The Paris Wine Cup aims to recognize, reward and promote wine brands that have successfully been created to identify with and target a specific wine drinker. For any wine brand to earn its place on a retailer’s shelf or a restaurant’s wine list - and then vitally stay there - they need to be marketable and consumer driven and not just produced in the general hope it can find enough people willing to sell and buy it.
That is why the Paris Wine Cup is different. It will single out and shine the spotlight on those wine brands that consumers really want to buy and have a clear market value for trade buyers.
The competition follows strict rules concerning its organization, criteria, Judging, and Results.
A competition that will judge wines in three key areas:
To be an award winner you will need to have a top quality wine, that offers both the trade and the consumer great value for money, and you will need to look good and truly stand out on the shelf and on the back bar.
Paris Wine Cup will be assessed and judged by a leading panel of top-level wine buyers with current direct commercial buying responsibility. Or wine consultants and experts who are also directly involved in the development of new wine brands or buying wine for commercial resale.
Put your wines in front of them and get rated by Value, Quality, and Package.
Leading wine brands from around the world now have an opportunity to grow their business and gain the attention of wine buyers, wine directors and influencers globally via the Beverage Trade Network Community.
Submit your wines in the 2021 Paris Wine Cup.
