For as long as anyone alive can remember France and Paris, has had a focus on the wine industry. Government bodies, regional promotion organisations, winemaking and wineries, but seldom has the focus been on the consumer. The Paris Wine Cup puts the focus firmly on the consumer and what they want from a bottle of wine.
The results for the first edition of Paris Wine Cup (2020) are out!
Here are all the highlights from the first annual Paris Wine Cup that was held in Paris in the first week of July.

The Paris Wine Cup recognises, rewards and promotes wine brands that are focussed on a specific drinker. Their judges follow strict protocols for quality, value for money and presentation for each entry.
If you are looking to buy your next wine in France, check out the winners on Paris Wine Cup that were awarded on the merit of quality, value and package. Full results are now available at:
To win a Paris Wine Cup award you will need to score highly in all three areas of our judging criteria. You might have an outstanding quality wine, but if the price and packaging are not right, you will not be recognized by the Paris Wine Cup.
There is no point, for example, in having a 95 point wine if it does not look good or offer consumers great value for money. Those points mean it will remain highly respected within the trade, but it will also remain largely unsold on the shelf or languishing on a restaurant’s wine list.
That is why the Paris Wine Cup will be decided based on the following judging formula:
Q (Quality Score) + Value Score (V) + Package Score (P) = Paris Wine Cup Score.
A separate weighted score will be given for each of the three parts of the judging process. The scores will be added up to give a final score from which individual prizes will be awarded.
Quality Score: will be marked out of 50
Value Score: will be marked out of 25
Package Score: will be marked out of 25
Double Gold: to receive a Double Gold medal you need to score 96 and above
Gold: to receive a Gold medal you need to score 90-95.
Silver: you need to score between 76-89.
Bronze: you need to score between 65-75.
The Paris Wine Cup aims to recognize, reward and promote wine brands that have successfully been created to identify with and target a specific wine drinker. For any wine brand to earn its place on a retailer’s shelf or a restaurant’s wine list - and then vitally stay there - they need to be marketable and consumer-driven and not just produced in the general hope it can find enough people willing to sell and buy it.
That is why the Paris Wine Cup is different. It will single out and shine the spotlight on those wine brands that consumers really want to buy and have a clear market value for trade buyers.
Paris Wine Cup will be assessed and judged by a leading panel of top-level wine buyers with current direct commercial buying responsibility. Or wine consultants and experts who are also directly involved in the development of new wine brands or buying wine for commercial resale.
Put your wines in front of them and get rated by Value, Quality, and Package.
Leading wine brands from around the world now have an opportunity to grow their business and gain the attention of wine buyers, wine directors and influencers globally via the Beverage Trade Network Community.
